Geocache Description:

Second in a series on this cache-free trail in Newport News Park.

"NPR" originally stood for "No Permit Required," but it turns out this trail is in fact located within Newport News Park. But I liked the NPR theme, so I didn't change the initials. Plus, I'd already written "NPR" on the caches themselves. Like #1, plenty of room for trackables and trade items, and also stocked with some swag.

NPR also stands for National Public Radio, which aired the automotive call-in show Car Talk from 1977 to 2012. Brothers Tom and Ray Magliozzi, better known as "Click and Clack, the Tappet Brothers," took calls and try to diagnose car troubles from their headquarters in Cambridge ("Our Fair City"), Massachusetts. They also featured a weekly puzzler to tease the brains of their listeners. The brothers retired the show in 2012, when Tom Magliozzi was diagnosed with Alzheimer's; he died in 2014. Car Talk lives on, though, as "The Best of Car Talk" continues to air with old content.

This geocache is placed with the permission of Newport News Park, permit #252.
