"NPR" originally stood for "No Permit Required," but it turns out this trail is in fact located within Newport News Park. But I liked the NPR theme, so I didn't change the initials. Plus, I'd already written "NPR" on the caches themselves. Like the others, plenty of room for trackables and trade items, and also stocked with some swag.
NPR also stands for National Public Radio, which has featured "Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me!" -- a news quiz with a rotating panel of comedians and celebrities who "compete" to answer questions on the week's events. Regular panel members include Mo Rocca, formerly of The Daily Show and frequent CBS Sunday Morning contributor; comedian Paula Poundstone; writer and humorist Roy Bount, Jr.; and raconteur and Motel 6 spokesman Tom Bodette. Host Peter Sagal has commanded the show since May 1998, just a few months after the program's debut. Two contestants also call in (or participate live) to try and answer at least two of three questions correctly to win the prize -- scorekeeper emeritus Carl Kasell's voice greeting on their answering machine.
This geocache is placed with the permission of Newport News Park, permit #253.
