This event will be the 6 th iteration of the "Maritime Mega" while celebrating 25 years since the placement of Canada's first geocache (GCBBA).
Not only is geocaching 25 years old, so too is the first geocache in Canada. This event marks the anniversary of its placement, and the 15th anniversary of the 1st Maritime Mega (Maritime Geobash).
The event itself will focus largely on the 25th anniversary of geocaching, including presentation(s) from the placer of Canada's first geocache (GCBBA), eastriver. The CO is a part of the planning committee and will be very active in the event and its organization.
It's sure to be a momentous day of fun and games, story telling and geocaching-related presentations. There will be an opportunity to hear guest speakers, meet other cachers from around the world, trade trackables, and browse wares from geocaching supply vendors. Reunions of hiking sticks, t-shirts and trackables are sure to be popular!
What Maritime celebration would be complete without music, food and celebratory cake?
The Maritime Mega is a Geocaching “Mega” event held in eastern Canada since its inception in 2010, when more than five hundred Geocachers travelled from far and near to meet in Dayspring, NS, for the Maritime Geobash. In 2013, the elements came together to bring Maritime Mega II: Caching the Capital! to Fredericton, NB. In 2015, M3 - Maritime Mega Moncton was held in Moncton, NB, and in 2017, Truro, Nova Scotia, hosted Maritime Mega 4. In 2023 Maritime Mega was back! Maritime Mega V – Let’s Connect was held in New Brunswick's beautiful cache-filled capital city of Fredericton.
Maritime Mega VI is sure to be a fun filled east coast celebration. The big event is back in Nova Scotia near its place of birth in Bridgewater Nova Scotia
at the spacious, modern and air conditioned Bridgewater Baptist Church, 564 Glen Allen Dr.,
Satelite events will be held throughout Nova Scotia in honour of 25 years of geocaching in the days before and after the main event.
