A short hike in the quiet and scenic northwest corner of Harold Parker State Forest to see a large, partially buried glacial erratic.
The Andover/North Andover area (and surrounding towns) exhibit significant evidence of glacial activity from drumlins and eskers to kettle ponds and erratics. This cache is in the vicinity of a large, partially buried glacial erratic (a large rock or boulder that differs from the size and type of rock native to an area that was transported to its location by a glacier) in the northwest of Harold Parker State Forest. It is most easily accessed from the woods road (Phillips Road) at the end of Tamys Lane, but can also be accessed via longer hikes from several parking areas along Harold Parker Road.
