Geocache Description:

Welcome to Copland Park!
Caching hours are sunrise to sunset. No night caching.
As you walk the paved perimeter trail in this park on your journey to gather the required information, you will see that the park offers Baseball Diamonds/Soccer Fields/Open fields, Basketball court, Tennis Courts, Walking Trails Benches and Picnic tables, Play Equipment for the kids, a small flower garden and a small wooded area.

The terrain level for this cache could be a 1.5 if it has not rained lately and you skip climbing the stairs. I set it to 2.5 due to the small number of stairs at stage 2 (optional) and the fact that after heavy rains some of the grassy areas retain water and the overall length of the walking needed.
The difficulty level reflects the number of counts needed to gather the information (and if you are like me, the multiple verification recounts until I get the same number a couple of times), the mathematics that need to be done and the overall time it takes to do this 5 stage multi-cache. Each stage is not very difficult.
You can combine doing this geocache with other caches that may be in the park.

This 5 stage multi-cache will take you on a walk around the park.
Go to each virtual stage and gather the needed info. Then do the math to find the physical final location.
You may find the virtual stages in any order you choose. Child waypoints have been provided for your convenience.

Stage 1: The Garden (N 41 35.368 W 83 37.406) This is the published location.
This corner of the park was a flower garden dedicated to the memory of someone and there was a plaque with their name. The garden stopped being maintained and the plaque was removed. Many of the bulbs from this garden has been redistributed to the nearby wooded area by animals.

A - __________ - Originally I had the cachers count the letters in the name of that person (first and last name) on the plaque. Since it is now missing, there were twelve letters in the name

Stage 2: Play Time (N 41 35.427 W 83 37.334)
There is a large variety of activities available in this play area.

B - __________ – Count the number of steps from the ground to the highest platform on the structure.

C - __________ – Count the number of slides.

D - __________ – There is an elevated curved walkway on the play structure. Go up there and take in the view. While there, count the number of whole balusters on the inner curve of that walkway. By inner curve, I mean the West side only of that curved section. By whole baluster, I am referring to the vertical bars/spindles that run all the way from the bottom rail to the top handrail. Do not count the shorter ones at the two ends that curve toward and end on a whole baluster. However, include the whole balusters on which those shorter ones end.
To check your counts for Stage 2 (or if you are not able to climb the stairs or are just confused): D = (B * C) + C

Stage 3: Parking Barriers (N 41 35.572 W 83 37.435)
The parking area is surrounded by wooden posts to prevent vehicles from driving on the grass. Along the northern end of the parking lot is a straight line of these posts.

E - __________ - Count the number of posts in this northern line.

Stage 4: Equipment Bunker (N 41 35.542 W 83 37.558)

F - __________ – In the back corner of the park there is a small building housing equipment. There is no need to go near the ditch or railroad tracks. Find the “Premise Number” and add the digits of that number together. For example, if the Premise Number was 1083, F would add up to be 12.

G - __________ – Now count the number of digits in the "Premise Number". For example, if the Premise Number was 1083, G would be 4.

After you have gathered all the needed data for A to G, compute the Final Location as follows:

H - __________ – Add E, F and G, then Multiply the result by C. That is: H = (E + F + G) * C

I - __________ – Multiply A by B, then add D.          That is: I = (A * B) + D

Add H to the decimal portion of the following North coordinate. N 41 35.(310)
Add I to the decimal portion of the following West coordinate.   W 83 37.(122)

If your Final Coordinates are not within the park boundaries, you have done something wrong.
