Echo Ridge Traditional Cache

Echo Mountain is one of my favorite hikes in the San Gabriels.  Whether you're going all the way to Insiration Point (5 miles up), or to the old hotel viewpoint​ (2.5 miles up), or just a fraction of a mile to one of the lower switchbacks to see a view, it's a well-maintained trail with lots of scenery.

This cache is hidden on the trail level with Echo Mountain & the old hotel, but just north of the busiest sections.  You only need to take a few steps from the trail to make the grab.

There are lots of ways to get here:  trails from above, or from the west at the Chaney Trailhead.  But the usual route is to park near Lake Ave and Loma Alta Dr, and follow the Lower Sam Merrill Trail 2.5 miles up.

The cache is a camo jar.  Please keep it concealed as best you can.  Caches tend to get muggled from the San Merrill Trail, if they're visible.  Enjoy the hike!
