Having re-seeded part of "the main meadow" earlier in the year and removed redundant fencing, it was the right time to begin tree planting last November. There have already been several sessions but with a couple of thousand to do we still have just a few left.
While there are only a few saplings left to plant, many of the ones already planted need stakes and even more need deer-guards
Many of our planting currently have "bunny-guards" because we ran out of the more robust "deer-guards" (Yes, there are deer in the area!). Swapping these over is a nice easy job for those who can't wield a lump hammer.
Once more our efforts will be supervised by the ranger, Felicity, who will supply the tools needed.
If you can BYO lump hammer and/or spade. Also gloves and tough footwear
All normal Health and Safety rules will apply.
Dogs and children welcome but need to be kept under the control of their owner/guardian.
Our previous efforts can now be seen from both by-pass and train-line - possibly even from space.
Do join us for a really friendly and rewarding afternoon.
There should be tea and biscuits available at half-time
