Geocache Description:

Πρωταπριλιά (protos = first + Aprilis = April) was absorbed into Greek culture very fast with slightly different versions of the meaning. The basic idea was that if one started telling small, innocent lies on April 1st, thinking that whoever manages to trick the “victim,” will have luck along his/her side for the rest of the year. In other parts, it is believed that the person who plays the trick, will have good crops. In addition, if it rains on April Fools day, in some parts of Greece, the water is believed to have healing powers.

We hope that there will be no rain on April 1st because we would like to organize this small event in Matala. That’s not a trick.

. The logbook will be available between 16.30 h and 17.00 h.
Perhaps we can visit one of the surrounding taverns.

Seit Griechenland zu Europa gehört, hat sich die “Tradition”, jemanden in den April zu schicken, rasch ausgebreitet. Ursprünglich sagte man, dass wenn man jemanden erfolgreich in den April schickt, man das restliche Jahr Glück haben wird, in anderen, dass man eine gute Ernte haben wird. Zusätzlich sagt man in einigen Teilen Griechenlands, dass wenn es an diesem Tag regnet, das Regenwasser heilende Kräfte hat.

Wir hoffen, dass es in diesem Jahr am 1. April nicht regnen wird, da dieses kleine Event in Matala von 16:30 – 17:00 Uhr stattfinden wird, kein Scherz

. Danach können wir sicherlich noch in eine der umliegenden Tavernen gehen.
