el Puente Rojo is Spanish for the Red Bridge. Walking south along Forbidden Drive from Bells Mill Rd will bring you to this historic covered bridge. There are other entry points from Roxborough, Chestnut Hill and Manayunk to access this beautiful area. Forbidden drive from Bells Mills is one of the least difficult access points. This is the only only covered bridge in a major U.S. city. In the 1800s, five covered bridges spanned the creek. Now only this one, the Thomas Mill Road Bridge survives and is in great shape. Please use stealth, especially on weekends, as this area can attract a crowd. Also re hide with the plentiful rocks and detritus that are available. Want this to last for others to find.
