The Lab that houses this cache is rather unique.
Not only is it well isolated from any nearby influences, and not only is it housed within a National Heritage Park, under direct Provincial control and access, and not only that it abuts with a National Key Point; for these reasons this lab is already rather unique.
However, the research undertaken within this lab is critical to the fellows who man it. With a total volumetric space of some 0.15 cubic meters.
The experimental methodology followed does not conform to the recognized empirical evidence based paradigm found in so many Labs in this arena.
No white coated assistants. No fiercely determined Einstein-haired beaker wielding caricatures giggling into their manufactured bubbles. Nothing that you or I would deem 'scientific'.
Yet it does house some of the most critical collections of evidences known to the communities. For this Lab is run entirely by microbes. Microbes and the chemical effects of high concentrations of oil infused Sodium Chloride.
The Lab, where the cache is housed, is an example of the partnership we have with the macrobiotics community. It is their unique ability to demonstrate in an ongoing fashion and with quantifiable evidences, the impact and effect of the decay process upon such a rigid structure as Kiaat Woodbeam.
This furthermore is enriched by the exposure to the extent of non natural contaminants that can be found within the environs.
In other words, This Lab Cache shows us first hand how natural fibers decay, and how that decay is affected by an abundance of litter.
