Geocache Description:

Living in Ballinasloe and having discovered geocaching last year we have decided to place a couple of caches ourselves of which this is the first. just a nano to start with but in a quite interesting place.

The Charles Le Poer Trench Monument is believed by many to have been erected to contain Lord Clancarty's hounds. It was in fact built in honour The Archbishop Charles Le Poer Trench who was born in 1772 , designed in 1840 by George Papworth the insciption reads...

This Monument was erected by subscribers of all bank and religious distinctions.

The active benevolence, unwearied kindness, unaffected piety and the many other virtues manifested by

The Hon Charles Le Poer Trench DD Archdeacon of ardagh who lived for many years amongst them

spending and being spent for the glory of God and the good of his fellow men.

And died on the 31st day of october AD 1839 aged 66 years.

the cache is a magnetic nano. enjoy!
