Permission to place a cache here was granted by Tom Post and Tom Swinford.
Welcome to Hoosier Prairie Nature Preserve.
This preserve is one of the few remaining remnants of what used to be quite common in Northwest Indiana: a prairie.
As a preserve it is set aside for nature’s sake and is open to the public for hiking and study. As such, please do not do anything to harm the prairie, including: going off trail, removing anything or biking.
The first stage of this multi will take you a mailbox with an informational pamphlet that highlights the different areas of this preserve. Since this is a preserve there is no physical cache container. You will need the pamphlet to help you figure out the location of the second stage of this cache.
The second and final stage of the cache is a bison tube.
Here is what you need to figure out the location of the second stage:
Bracken & sweetfern, An old field, Tall grass prairie, An old field . Tall grass prairie, Prairie marsh, Adaptations
A word about animals, Prairie marsh, Adaptations, Prairie marsh . Bracken & sweetfern, Oak savanna, An old field
After finding the cache I encourage you to hike the half-mile trail through this preserve. This is one of the first hiking spots I discovered upon moving to NW Indiana and I come back here often. I hope you enjoy it too.
