Placed in the Ballinasloe Famine Memorial Park, which is across the road from the old A.T Cross pen factory, hence the cache name! Known to locals as Bullys Acre this 2 acre plot was given by Lord Clancarty to the Board of Guardians in 1846. It is estimated that over 900 corpses were buried here in 1848. The park contains amongst other memoriams, a stone carving, produced by Helen Comerford in collaboration with the artist David Lambert and a pot which came from the Workhouse soup kitchen. The development of this derelict famine burial ground was completed in 1998, a fitting memorial to the people buried there as well as to victims of the Irish famine everywhere.
The cache is a medium sized tupperware container which should be easy to find. Original contents include plenty of goodies to be swapped out along with a TB, logbook and pen, and a small FTF prize. There is plenty of parking right outside the park.
