Geocache Description:

This is the second cache in the GPD series for 2017 which will be hidden on some of the newer tails within the park system.

Built in 1955, the Affelder House was a country retreat for owners and nature lovers Lewis and Ruth Affelder who lived in Shaker Heights. They tendered the life estate as a gift to the GPD in 1994 and the donated 85 acres is preserved in its natural state, allowing it to be developed and operated as a park.

Talk the long hike from the entrance to The West Woods on Route 84 or for a short hike enter from Route 306.

Your GPS may want you to turn in too far north on 306 so look for the big park district sign at the entrance.

The entrance road from 306 is one lane for both directions so keep an eye out for oncoming traffic

Trail map and park info.

Cache expires 1/31/18
