STOP and be a sly geocacher and don't forget a tweezers. During hours for mass, parking would be difficult. Find and sign log. LOOK up at the cross on the church steeple. SHARE, though optional, a comment about the cross, for example, where you may have seen one somewhat similar. This geocache site is on the SW corner of 6th Street and Dunlap Avenue in Mission, Texas .THIS CHURCH had its origins here as a wooden church that was built in 1899 and called Our Lady of the Mission. This structure burned down and was replaced by a brick one that was completed in 1927. Then it was renamed OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE. By early February 2013, the damaged three ton wooden dome was removed along with its white cross. A new durable fiberglass dome replaced it and was adorned with the white cross. The church was expanded at that time; it is so beautiful! THE CELTIC HIGH CROSS is one of the best known symbols of IRELAND. One of those crosses at Monasterboice is the tallest surviving of its kind and is about 800 years old. Although that Celtic High Cross is decorated with many carvings and is very ancient, there is a definite similarity between it and the white cross on this church. HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!
