Geocache Description:

The Eston Union Hospital has been a prominent building on Main Street for more than 50 years.

Dr Sam Holmes and later his son Dr Stewart Holmes were the doctors in town for much of the town's history.  This hospital used to be the centre of health care for the community.  Birth, deaths, accidents and many of the other reasons people need a hospital could be looked after here.  There's also churches that seem to be across the street in three locations.  There were many ways to be saved!

Then 1993 happened.  When more than 50 hospitals across the province were closed.  This is one of the closures.  It's still a contentious issue in the community.

Unfortunately, there hasn't been any re-development because of the many layers of governments involved.  It simply remains a reminder of what used to be.
