El Lugar
El Río San Antonio es uno de los cursos de agua más bonitos del Valle de Punilla. Se distingue por sus aguas cristalinas y sus playas, muy concurridas por los turistas durante el verano. En el Río San Antonio se refleja la naturaleza viva de las Sierras de Córdoba, entre la montaña y la llanura.
Los afluentes de este río son: el río Malambo, el Río El Cajón y las vertientes que nacen en el macizo Los Gigantes y atraviesan la zona sur del Valle de Punilla.
En su recorrido, el Río San Antonio baña las costas de las poblaciones de Cuesta Blanca, Tala Huasi, Icho Cruz, Mayu Sumaj, San Antonio de Arredondo y la Ciudad de Villa Carlos Paz, para luego terminar en el Lago San Roque.
Sus playas de cálida arena, guardan imágenes dignas de una postal serrana. Al medio día, los asadores comienzan a destilar el típico aroma de la carne a las brasas. Todo se mueve en un perpetuo equilibrio, el mismo que sirvió de escenario a los antiguos pobladores aborígenes de la zona. Como hace miles de años, el río se une en una ancestral comunión con las costas de arena, el viento abraza las ramas de los árboles y el hombre disfruta de ese paraíso de tranquilidad y frescura. Ideal para la reunión familiar y con amigos, para sentarse en la arena y compartir las rondas de mate y el asado.
La cuenca del Río San Antonio se ubica dentro de los sistemas hidrológicos típicos: posee fuertes pendientes, un final bien definido, clara divisoria de aguas y baja permeabilidad.
Posee un cauce sobre un lecho rígido que varía según el tramo entre lecho de roca, de grava y de arena.
