Continuing the series started by Flexburyites
Wheelchair accessible as I placed it using my mobility scooter - however as you get close (the last 20 mtrs or so it is a steep rd/path)
The Dart Inshore Lifeboat serves the River Dart from its navigable limits at Totnes, to the deepwater harbour of Dartmouth itself and out into the immediate seas beyond. It is flanked to the East by the Torbay lifeboat at Brixham and to the West by the Salcombe lifebout .
The Crew.
The D class lifebout requires a three person crew so a minimum of twelve enrolled crew members are needed. Most D class stations have twenty to twenty five crew members, all are volunteers with full time jobs and commitments. As calls can come at any time, many would be unavailable., hence the need for such a large pool of trained volunteers.
