We will be visiting Edinburgh and wanted the opportunity to meet some local cachers to discover and exchange TBs. Then Groundspeak announced Dönerstag 2017 and it fell the same day we were here so it seemed like an excellent opportunity to combine the two.
When: Thursday 13th April from 8:00am until 8:30am
Where: Outside our Hotel - seating available.
Why: To meet fellow cachers and to discover as many trackables as possible! And also to gain our Dönerstag souvenir.
Who: For local and visiting cachers; anyone who wants to join us for a chat about caching.
Special Tools Required: Please bring a wooden kebab skewer with you!
About Dönerstag.
Dönerstag began in 2007 when German cachers met at kebab shops around the country all at the same time. The tradition caught on!
These special events are held each year on a Thursday. In German, this makes the name “Dönerstag” a pun: The German word for Thursday is “Donnerstag.” Kebab translates to “Döner.”
Last year, over 6000 players attended 233 Dönerstag events. The events were held all over Europe, from Germany and Austria to the United Kingdom and Switzerland.
You’re invited to join in this year’s Dönerstag from wherever you are in the world and earn the first Dönerstag souvenir.
The Event.
Not knowing the area at all, I have opted for a spot very near our hotel.
I (Bean) will be wearing a trackable t-shirt and will also bring our trackable Essex flag so you can spot us more easily. Sprout is now a teenager, so is likely to still be languishing in bed.
I have a particular passion for TBs and GCs. If you have a trackable or two in your collection that you’d be happy to share I would love to be able to discover them.
Don't worry if you're not into trackables (or kebabs), you will still be very welcome.
