In Germany a Döner is the Turkish version of a Greek gyro without the tzatziki sauce, instead it is topped with a kind of cole slaw, onions, and tomato served folded into a flat bread. It has gained in popularity in the last decade, and somehow the day before Good Friday, called "Green Thursday", has morphed into Dönerday for geocachers. Do not ask me how that came about, I was already living here.
