Saturday, April 22nd, 9:00 am - Noon Groundspeak has announced that April 22-30 is CITO Week. If you attend a CITO event during that time, you will earn a digital souvenir on your geocaching profile!!
Well it is that time again, time to pick up the trash along one of the sections of highway that has been adopted by the Iowa Geocachers Organization. This 2 mile section is located between mile markers 13 & 15, as you travel along US Hwy 151 between Walford & Amana. At least twice a year there will be a CITO here, giving geocachers an opportunity to work together to help clean up our state. The posted coordinates are where we will park and gather for a short safety and instructional meeting before we split up in to smaller groups to start picking up the trash. The parking location is behind the out building located at 1161 W Ave. This is private property, but the property owners are allowing us to use part of their gravel lot as a gather place, so please be respectful. After some brief instructions, I am estimating that we can have this section cleaned up in about three hours. The more people that come out & helped, the faster it will go for all. Please come prepared with proper footwear, gloves, and any special 'pickup' tools that you prefer. Since the Iowa DOT requires that all participants wear a safety vests (which they will be providing), in your "Will Attend" please provide me with a number in your group.
