This Geocache is located at Darwin-Dassel Park, a Meeker county park. It's a great park for sledding and cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the Winter and hiking and picnics the rest of the year. They also have horse trails available. You'll want to be sure to bring bug repellant during the warmer months of the year, and keep an eye out for poison ivy and wild parsley, as they have been known to be in this park.
Did you know that the Smokey Bear campaign has been the longest running public service ad campaign in the history of the United States? It began in the year 1944. Smokey has shared for all these years on the importance of fire prevention. The original phrase was "Care will prevent 9 out of 10 forest fires." Then, it was updated to "Remember, only YOU can prevent forest fires. " And now, "Only YOU can prevent forest fires." Did you know that there was a young cub that was burned in a fire in 1950 in the Capitan Mountains in New Mexico that became the living Smokey Bear? He lived out his days as a symbol for fire prevention at the National Zoo in Washington D.C. Congratulations to Cruiser5 for the FTF on this cache!
