The first in this series of geocaches celebrating Slavic Folklore, looks at the curious spirit called Kikimora. The Slavs had house spirits, and while the Domovoy is the male house spirit, the Kikimora is the female one.
There are two different kinds of Kikimoras. The one that comes from the forest is married to the Domovoi. The other one comes from the swamp and is married to Leshy (another of our folklore characters: he is a spirit of the woods) . It is said that she can be identified by her wet footprints. When home builders wanted to cause harm to someone buying a house, they would bring in Kikimora. Once she is inside, it is difficult to get her to leave.
When the house is in order, Kikimora looks after the chickens and housework. If the house is not in order, she breaks dishes, and makes noises at night! (She doesn't like slovenly housekeepers, it seems) . She also comes out at night to spin.

To find the Kikimora, you will need to solve this puzzle. The puzzle can be solved in the field. The cache is found by hiking along Meadows Canyon Trail.
