Peace Park at the Gazebo
(Kebet Way & Coast Meridien - just off the Mary Hill Bypass)
7:00PM - 8:00 PM Thursday, April 13
It seems like we should get together to eat kebabs. That just sounds kind of weird . . .
Things to celebrate on April 13th this year:
National Peach Cobbler Day
Celebrate Teen Literature Day
Scrabble Day
Thomas Jefferson Day
Maundy Thursday on the Christian calender (the Last Supper) also known among other things as "Thursday of Mysteries"
Things that happened in history on April 13:
1970 - Oxygen tank explodes on Apollo 13 - resulting in the phrase "Houston, we have a problem"
1997 - Tiger Woods at the age of 21 becomes the youngest player to win the Masters (golf)
1960 - the world's first satellite navigation system was launched
1963 - Garry Kasparov, Russian chess player was born
1906 - Samuel Beckett, author, playwright, Nobel Prize Laureate was born
1938 - Grey Owl, English/Canadian environmentalist and author died
So there is something for everyone to celebrate - and now we can add Dönerstag to our list! So come out, meet your fellow cachers, consider the things that bring us together and celebrate our differences - like golfers and chess players and readers. This will be a low key event at the Gazebo under cover. There is plenty of parking in the area or you can ride your bike along the PoCo Traboulay Trail. No washrooms or water available. Sunset is at 8:00 PM that day.
If you wish to bring something to share like peach cobbler, kebabs or scrabble cookies (is that a thing?) or anything else, please let us know. I will bring plates and napkins at a minimum though I will be newly arrived back from geocaching adventures in Brazil so I can't promise anything big.
DON'T MISS IT!
