The 'Dönerstag' began in 2007 when German geocachers met at various kebab shops around the country. All the events happened at the same time. And so the tradition began!!
These events are now held each year on a Thursday. The German word for Thursday is “Donnerstag” and Kebab translates to “Döner.” So they tweaked the name a bit to make it a German pun: Dönerstag
There are more and more of these events around the world each year with more and more attendees. Here we'll do our part to help it grow! And this year there is an extra bonus to entice us to meeting: a new souvenir!
