Pakala Beach is located on the west side of Kauai adjacent to a plantation village. Pakala was a thriving sugar plantation village with its own general store before the demise of the sugar cane industry. Now, its a just a place where former and retired employees are residing. Beach access by way of the village is not an option because there is no where to park except at the residence of people who live here.. To get to this beach you must use a beach access trail that goes through a pasture owned by the Robinson family who also owns all of the properties in Pakala. I remember that years before there were a herd of bulls which made it an adventure to get to the beach because some would give chase. But now you’ll be lucky to see them though I've heard they are still there but the number are few to none.
This beach is usually more a surfer's paradise than the regular beach goer. You can still take a dip here though sometimes the ocean is not usually as blue that people are used to seeing at the beaches around this island. It's a nice place to cruise, take in the sun, go fishing, or just watching the surfers because of the serenity of this place. I've seen weddings
being performed here occasionally because there are a few vacation homes for rent just a short distance from the beach. This beach is one of the few hidden gems here on the island of Kauai.
The cache is of the small size and is big enough to leave trackables, geocoins and swag. Please keep the container clean and hide it as found or even better. Make sure to bring a pen in case one is not in the container. This is a short trail to get to GZ. I have left a path tag for the FTF. You can keep it but please log it at you home location. I also dropped a TB to be moved along. Please log it so the owner can keep track of it. Cache with Aloha!!
Congrats to 606 for being the FTF!
