I grew up in this area and spent many an hour playing games like Cops & Robbers, Cowboys & Indians, and looking for Pirate treasure. This puzzle is homage to the days of yore when children played outdoors, not on electronic devices. We didn’t have cell phones and had to stay close enough to home to hear our mother’s whistle or the rattle of the cowbell for dinner. When children could play with toy guns and swords, and the sentence “You’ll put an eye out” was more of a challenge than a warning. The area where the hunt for treasure happens was an all time favorite for the young dare-devils of the ‘hood, fueled by televised spectacular stunts performed by Evil Knievel. Bike ramps, sledding jumps, and roof-top umbrella-parachute jumps were commonplace in the ‘hood. Ah, the good ol’ days…
A = N 42 50.360, W 106 18.919
B = N 42 50.434, W 106 18.946
C = N 42 50.409, W 106 18.811
D = N 42 50.375, W 106 18.887
E = N 42 50.476, W 106 18.906
F = N 42 50.453, W 106 18.831
G = N 42 50.426, W 106 18.992
H = N 42 50.376, W 106 18.985
Only one solution makes sense:
Solution 1:
X = GEFDAH + ECFEGH
Solution 2:
X = HADEFC + EGBCFE
Solution 3:
X = HADBEF + DCFHGB
Solution 4:
X = EBGADC + DAHEFC
