Mont Tonta Traditional Cache

A tough hike but (if the skies are clear) great views of the island

The hike on this mountain is open for business!  The mining company that owns the access road placed a gate across it years ago and basically ended access to the trailhead.  But we contacted the manager (father in law of a co-worker) and he said it was perfectly fine to park your car at the gate and either walk or bike to the start of the hike.  As it's a hilly 5.6 km journey from the gate to the trail head, we took bikes. 

Make no mistake, this is a tough hike.  No water and ~ 1200 m (at least) of vertical gain.  Take a lot of water.  Cache is in the old building up near the summit.  If interested, here's a story board about the hike and placing of the cache.
