The church was converted from a tannery in 1842. Worship has been traced to early non-conformists who met in a room over The Sun public house in the village. Over the years the chapel has been condemned, repaired and adapted many times despite retaining the original outline and simple interior.
A trap door between the pews near the west wall has a well below, this having been used when the site was a tanning barn. The gallery was installed in the mid 1870’s. Adjacent to the chapel there is a hall, this being a former school room.
The church has services every Sunday morning and the building is used by community groups on other days.
Geocaching Etiquette. geocaching.com states under 'Help Center' in Paragraph 1.7: 'We like to keep things fun for everyone, so we have a few rules we encourage everyone to follow. Sign both the logbook and log your find online to get your smiley. Geocache owners love reading about your experience'. There are more rules, but this is the first one. This cache owner requests that if on the rare occasion geocachers are unable to sign, an explanation is given in their log. A photo of the cache, if possible should then be sent through the messaging system.
