Geocache Description:

Abbotskerswell-Origin Carsuella was the name of Abbotskerswell in the domesday book of 1086

Carsuella a derivation of the name Kerswell meaning 'cress well' a spring where water cress was grown.

The area was held by the Abbot of Horton Abbey in Dorset and in 1086 had a population of less than one hundred.

So the current name has grown to incorporate the links with the Abbots...Abbot-cress-well

Ladywell could well be the original source of the name and the water still runs crystal clear to this day

PLEASE re-hide well as placed.
