South Sea Fairy Tale: Viewpoint at Snow white-Bay
Ko Raya (Thai: เกาะ เกาะ รยา ยา - pronunciation: [mùː.kò.raː.jaː] - lit. "Raya archipelago") is an island group in the Andaman Sea south of Phuket, southern Thailand. The two main islands are Ko Raya Yai (เกาะ า ใหญ่ ใหญ่) and Ko Raya Noi (เกาะ า น้อย น้อย). They are often called Ko Racha Yai (เกาะ าชา ญ ญ) or Ko Racha Noi (เกาะ าชา น้อย น้อย). Yai means "large" in the country language, noi means "small". The Ko-Raya archipelago of the province of Phuket is located in the Amphoe Mueang Phuket (เมือง ภูเก็ต ภูเก็ต). Ko Raya Yai and Ko Raya Noi are among the diving paradise in southern Thailand. Ko Raya Yai, the Great Raya Island, is about 2 × 3 km in size and offers accommodation for tourists, for example the luxury resort "The Racha" with its white villas scattered on the main beach. There are two shallow decaying "postcard beaches" and a few small rocky bays. The island is hilly and largely covered by jungle. In the middle of the island there are many coconut palms and many water buffaloes. Only a few dozen locals spend the whole year on the small island. Ko Raya Noi has an elongated shape, lies about 8 km southwest of Raya Yai and is uninhabited. Raya Noi has no sandy beaches. The island is overgrown by the jungle. The cache is located on the larger island of Koh Racha Yai, a true dream island well located 20 km off the coast of Phuket, on a beautiful view well accessible between the large rocks near the Racha resort, covered by small stones. We discovered this place on our sailing trip with the catamaran Ariel in March 2017 after a visit to the small Thai restaurant below the cacheposition. From there you have a nice overview of the Snow White bay Batok Bay. Have fun looking and logging and enjoy the beautiful view of the fairy beach with the dazzling white and powdery coral sand, the crystal clear water and the breathtaking surroundings with a South Sea flair. We found Batok Bay irresistible at first glance. Although many daytrip boats anchored here, it was peaceful after 3pm, and we had a spectacular sunset and a quiet night at anchor, because the bay prevented high waves and violent wind.

Ko Raya (Thai: หมู่เกาะรายา - Aussprache: [mùː.kò.raː.jaː] - wörtl. „Raya-Archipel“) ist eine Inselgruppe in der Andamanensee südlich von Phuket, Süd-Thailand. Die beiden Hauptinseln heißen Ko Raya Yai (เกาะรายาใหญ่) und Ko Raya Noi (เกาะรายาน้อย), sie werden auch oft Ko Racha Yai (เกาะราชาใหญ) bzw. Ko Racha Noi (เกาะราชาน้อย) genannt. Yai bedeutet in der Landessprache „groß“, noi bedeutet „klein“.
Verwaltungstechnisch gehört der Ko-Raya-Archipel zur Provinz Phuket, er liegt im Amphoe Mueang Phuket (อำเภอเมืองภูเก็ต).
Ko Raya Yai und Ko Raya Noi zählen zu den Tauchparadiesen in Südthailand.
Ko Raya Yai, die Große Raya-Insel, ist etwa 2×3 km groß und bietet Unterkunftsmöglichkeiten für Touristen, zum Beispiel das Luxus-Resort „The Racha“ mit seinen am Hauptstrand über den Hügel verteilten weißen Villen. Es gibt zwei seicht abfallende „Postkartenstrände“ und ein paar kleine steinige Buchten. Die Insel ist hügelig und zum großen Teil noch von Dschungel bewachsen. In der Inselmitte gibt es viele Kokospalmen und etliche Wasserbüffel. Nur ein paar Dutzend Einheimische verweilen das ganze Jahr auf dem kleinen Eiland.
Ko Raya Noi hat eine längliche Form, liegt ca. 8 km südwestlich von Raya Yai und ist unbewohnt. Raya Noi hat keine Sandstrände. Die Insel wird vom Dschungel überwuchert. Vor der felsigen Küste findet der Tauchfreund reiche Fischgründe. (Quelle Wikipedia)

Der Cache befindet sich auf der größeren Insel Koh Racha Yai, einer wahren Trauminsel gut 20 km vor der Küste von Phuket, an einer schönen Aussicht gut zugänglich zwischen den großen Felsen in der Nähe des Racha Resorts, bedeckt von kleinen Steinen. Wir entdeckten diesen Platz auf unserem Segel-Törn mit dem Katamaran Ariel im März 2017 nach einem Besuch des kleinen Thai-Lokals unterhalb der Cacheposition. Man hat von dort einen schönen Überblick über die Schneewittchenbucht Batok Bay. Viel Spaß beim Suchen und Loggen und genießt die schöne Aussicht auf den märchenhaften Strand mit dem blendend weissen und puderzarten Korallensand, dem glasklaren Wasser und der atemberaubenden Umgebung mit Südsee-Flair.
Batok Bay fanden wir schon auf den ersten Blick unwiderstehlich. Obwohl hier viele Tagesausflugs-Boote ankerten, wurde es nach 15 Uhr friedlich, als diese wieder zurückfuhren, und wir hatten einen spektakulären Sonnenuntergang und eine ruhige Nacht vor Anker, denn die Bucht verhindert hohe Wellen und heftigen Wind.
