Geocache Description:

Cache In Trash Out® (CITO) is an environmental initiative supported by the geocaching community. Since 2002, CITO has helped preserve the natural beauty of cache-friendly spaces. Every Autumn  and Spring (southern hemisphere), geocachers gather together for global CITO Week(s). This Autumn CITO week is from the 22nd - 30th April and you can earn a new souvenir for your geocaching profile by attending a CITO Event during this period.

During the 2015 Christchurch Mega Event a very special CITO was held - GC63XG4 Green Thumbs Up.  145 Mega attendees decended on Woodend beach and helped plant and water-in a Biota node with native plants supplied by the Tuhaitara Conservation Trust. The event was arguably one of the most well received and rewarding events ever! The Tuhaitara Trust ranger (Greg) was so impressed that he was going to dedicate (with signage) the node to 'Canterbury Geocaching'.....and during the Spring 2016 Biota Node Cleanup CITO Event a fancy sign created by TheWanglers was unvieled.

Well; another 6 months have passed by. Feedback suggests that cachers like the opportunity to come back to Woodend to weed, water and otherwise pander to 'our' garden......and a CITO Week seems as "gooda" reason as any.....

When: Sunday 30th April, 1:00 - 2:30pm

Bring a bag for rubbish, a fork/grubber for a bit of weeding (will those darn Lupins ever go away?!) & maybe even a bucket for a smidge of watering to help the plants along.

The Mega Team will supply some refreshments and maybe even a 'sausage in bread' for attendees.

Plenty of parking available. The node is on the roadside as you drive in; to the right of the Tuaitara Trust Office/Building (when facing the building).
