Crawford Bridge is in the centre of an area of great change. In recent years all traces of the industrial past of the area has been built over with modern housing, and where factories and other industry once stood, now the view from here is of flats, colony housing and even new student accommodation.
While the bridge used to be a bit of a graffiti hot spot, in 2016 local artists and Lorne Street Primary School teamed up to give the bridge a new lease of life. It is now covered in paintings and an ant-graffiti coating that (mostly) works. The bridge is now colourful in new ways that celebrate the local area in a positive way.
My favourite panels showcase the industries that the area used to be well known for such as ship building, jam and biscuit factories and other economic outputs. Please admire the local artworks and let me know which panels you prefer.
The area can be very busy with pedestrians and bikes. On a match day the hour or two before and after the game probably ramps this up to a difficulty 5 due to the pressure of so many people crossing the bridge - you have been warned! Cache is a magnetic nano just off the bridge itself.
Congratulations to B&B Fe on the FTF!
