Geocache Description:

Nano in this nice park which shows how closely Bedworth is connected with the mining history.
 


For many centuries Bedworth was a mining community. The first references to the extraction of coal locally go back as far as the 13th Century.

The land for this park was bought by the Parish Council in 1923 for the sum of around 3000GBP (over 150000GBP in todays money) and laid out with funds from the local Miners' Welfare Committee. The park offered recreation, relaxation and healthy activity - as it still does today - giving relief from the hustle and bustle and hard graft of everzbody life...
