The Gates Of Helen Lead No Place Special for now they are what is Special Here.
This massive gateway and wall of iron ore rock sits on each side of Park Drive and appears to be an entrance to something special. But whatever the intended purpose, these gates simply stand as a monument to themselves and are themselves the thing of special interest. The first time I passed here I new this had to be a new cache location. As this is an oil boom town I would guess the walls date to the 1930's or 1940's. I wanted so badly to climb on top and possibly place the cache so that cachers would have to climb the rock walls but the danger and a possible run in with local police made me think twice. In other words, I do not reccomend climbing the walls. The cache is not that small and is hidden out of sight in a place that anyone can get to. I chose a location that would be somewhat out of view of locals and passing cars. Enjoy yet another interesting historic place in this old oil boom town.
