I decided to place a geocache here in dedication to all the hard work and accomplishments Kirra SLSC have achieved. I am so proud to be a member of Kirra. The location of this geocache has also been moved! (As of 29/04/2018) The appearance of the cache has also changed! (As of 02/03/2019).
Kirra Surf Life Saving Club is the second oldest club in Queensland and owes its beginnings to a tragedy that occured on 6th January, 1916. On that day two friends went swimming on the unpatrolled beach and immediately got into trouble. Sadly, one of the friends drowned. The local community acted swiftly and a public meeting was called on 7th January, 1916 where it was decided that the Kirra Surf Life Saving Club be formed. There are many ways to be involved in surf life saving. Whether you contribute by taking an active role or a support role, there are many types of positions available where you can help grow and develop our club and its members as we all work to keep the public and our beaches safe. “To serve the bathing public of Kirra beach and its surrounding areas by protecting life, preserving safety and preventing incidents by proactive and contemporary lifesaving practices through vigilance and service.” This geocache is a camo'd nano container in a very high muggle populated area! As usual, exercise stealth and replace as found. The best time to visit this geocache is during week days either in the morning or afternoon to avoid the attraction of muggles. If you get stuck, The hint is a big give away. Due to this geocache being muggled a few times I decided to change the location a little. At GZ you'll have a clear view of the Kirra Pavilion as well as Kirra Beach. This cache was also placed with permission of the Kirra SLSC President. Who knows, I may even see you hunting one day!
