Barriers to Natural Regeneration.
Weeds compete for space where native plants should grow. The 2014 Parkerville, Stoneville, Mt Helena Bushfire provided an opportunity to access areas for weed control and allow native plants to grow back or regenerate.
Since the fires several weeds have been controlled in the area, including Watsonia, Eastern States Wattles, Bridal Creeper and Blackberry.
Controlling weeds, especially introduced grasses and Eastern States Wattles reduce the fire risk in the area.
