Just a few minutes' walk and then 120 or 137 stairs (depending which of the two gates you enter by) up Gunung Panjang will bring you to the cache. The walk is flat, the staircase short but quite strenuous. From the top you can enjoy a sweeping view of Ipoh towards the town. Be careful as the stairs are quite steep and difficult, and often wet and slippery. The area at the top of the stairs is particularly slippery.
You can park at the co-ordinates given for parking, or at the alternate parking. At the time of publishing, both entrances are intended public access points for the hill. At the main parking, walk through the red and white gate-posts and look immediately to yor right for a small set of concrete stairs (waypoint provided) that will take you around the side of the hill. This trail is more interesting, shaded, and probably a little shorter than the alternative, but the ground is less even and care needs to be taken.
At the alternative parking point, an information sign will indicate that you have found the correct place. From here, cross the polo group, keeping out of the way if any activities are on, and continue skirting the base of the mountain. This way is open and flat. We have spoken to the land owner and he is happy for people to access the site by crossing the polo ground.
Continuing around the base of Gunung Panjang, you may encounter some of the polo horses, on your route or sheltering in one of the caves. The staircase up the hill is easy to find. There are two different gates in the fence, and sometimes the larger first gate is locked or shut. After you have found the cache, have a walk around the platform on the side of the hill to enjoy the view (looking out), impressive cliff face (looking up) and prehistoric paintings on the rock face (see additional waypoint).
