Geocache Description:

Dežela ključavnic

Čebulnice visoke med 20 in 45cm, večinoma imajo štiri dolge sivozelene črtaste liste. Cvetovi so vodoravni z značilnim vonjem, z valjasto cevjo, ozkimi štrlečimi, koničastimi snežno belimi krpami...Le kdo jih ne pozna? Ko pride mesec maj so pobočja odeta z belimi svilenimi preprogami.

Sledite markacijam do vrha, april 2017

Prisojna pobočja pod Krempo so posejana s skalnimi stolpi.

The Land of Narcissus

Narcissus are tall bulbs between 20 and 45cm, they mostly have four long gray-green striped leaves. The flowers are horizontal with a distinctive smell, with a cylindrical tube, narrow protruding, conical snow-white tassels. Who doesn't know them? When the month of May comes, the slopes are dressed in white silk carpets of their blossoms.

Where does the name narcissus come from? The story says that bees are hardworking and diligent insects, but God punished their diligence because they also gathered honey on Sundays. He made locks under the pollen and locked up the sweet honey. Hence the name narcissus ("locks").

If you think that they are only found in the Gorenjska region, you are mistaken.

Waking up in spring, April 2017

To find this beautiful piece of world, you must head towards the endless Kočevje forests. Here you will find a meadow, about 3 ha in size, which is triangularly located between Krokar and Krempa, towards the old Kočevje road in the ravine. Every spring, it is dressed in white Narcissus coverings. This is a natural reserve and also the southernmost growing place of Narcissus in Slovenia. In order to have this historically valuable beauty have as much sun as possible, the foresters have cleared trees and shrubs, and placed benches for observing nature and enjoying companionship on the slopes. Especially inviting is the ring of benches in the shade under the only remaining bushy beech tree.

Follow the markings to the top, April 2017

The wind is tied to the mountain like a wolf, inside it, silence sings, as written by the great Slovenian poet Gregor Strniša (1930-1987), who was brought to Inlauf, the abandoned Kočevje village under Krempa, where he was a political prisoner for two years. Climbing to the rugged peak of Krempa and taking in the views of the Kolpa and Čabranka valleys is just as beautiful as listening to the sound of the wolf and the silence. Be on the lookout for eagles guarding their nests in steep cliffs, frightened by the mere presence of man.

Here, the silence truly whispers.
