A disguised cache on an old viaduct. There is available parking roughly 300m away in a near-by cul-de-sac (see waypoints). Terrain rating is 3.5 due to a steep incline close to the GZ. Not accessible for wheelchair users. Please bring your own pencil/pen for the log book.
This cache is placed on, what we can see as, the only accessible part of the old stone viaduct in Monmouth. It was used for the old railway line that went through Monmouth, but is now closed. The only parts which remain are the stone arches on the riverbanks. There is also another bridge nearby which is still in use for cyclists and pedestrians.
We recommend parking in a cul-de-sac shown on the waypoints, and then walking approximately 300m to the GZ. This path would be suitable for smaller pushchairs but not wheelchairs. The terrain rating is set to 3.5 as there is a steep incline 10m before the GZ. We would also recommend continuing along the path, and you will get to the other bridge with some lovely views of the wye valley and the viaduct.
