You can drive right to the cache traveling through some fine country north east of the charming town of Sisters, Oregon. Indian Ford Road is a favorite in this part of the ponderosa clad high desert near Black Butte.
Plan to spend an hour or so walking about these historic places. The gate near the cache is open to all (please close the gate after you) so be sure to enter and browse the Farewells. Don’t miss the visitors section of the Preserve with its historic barn as you return a few hundred yards toward the present. Go early or late or take extra water. Bring your camera(s). The cache contains: The log and Geocache Information Form, a whale key chain, Kawasaki eraser, Little dog water cups (2), a bat, a yo-yo, a blue squirt gun, a blue whale squirt gun, pet rocks (2), a key cover, a new wrist watch, glow sticks (2), emergency EMS-SAR accident report form, no-trail-fees windshield stickers (2) and a MARS (military amateur radio service) button with pin attached. Be careful to take main roads when returning or have a full tank of gas and a detailed road map. Be mentally prepared for the possibility that you may have to return to the cache and start toward home again.
