Geocache Description:

A few weeks before this cache was placed, there was a fairly extensive forest fire in this wonderful nature oasis. When I came on March 11, 2017 to check on the three geocaches I had hidden in the woods, I found that all three had been destroyed by the fire (and thus had to be archived). Where once there had been lush greenery, now there were only the charred remains of once vibrant trees. sad

However, nature often finds a way to survive, and, only 30 feet away from the lifeless area where one of my geocaches had been hidden there was a pocket of nature apparently untouched by the infernos that engulfed the area. How this pocket oasis survived, I have no clue...but seeing it brought a smile to my face.

So I decided that a geocache simply HAD to be hidden there, as a tribute to the ability of nature to find a way to survive. I did not have any containers with me, but found a discarded bottle lying on the ground of the oasis and decided to repurpose it from an insult to nature into an invitation for geocachers to visit proof of nature's determination to overcome. Thus, if you are seeking the original container for this cache, you will be searching for a discarded plastic bottle with a log inside (it's probably my least attractive container except for the one for "Lost Dog", but I had to make do with what was on hand). Note that, on September 5, 2022, TheDeadPoolians could not find it and replaced it with a micro/small tube that was attached to a tree using a zip tie that they found lying on the trail (which is just like the found bottle for the original container!). There thus may be one...or may be two...containers out here, and a signature on either one is fine (let us know which one you found, please!).

When you visit, move purposefully and carefully so as to take care not to harm the surrounding greenery. Note that there are a couple of available parking areas on the very east end of the forest, off the west side of 137 Avenue.

Love nature!  And cache on!
