Fumegai è una delle città fantasma più particolari e meglio conservate della provincia di Belluno. Ci troviamo nella valle del Lago del Corlo, più precisamente in Val Carazzagno. Una volta qui si trovavano molti paesi. Quando è stata costruita la diga tutta la valle si è riempita d’acqua, sommergendo i paesi e isolando alcuni versanti. I paesini fungevano da base per gli alpeggi e per chi aveva i pascoli in alto. Venendo a mancare il fondovalle questi sono rimasti completamente isolati. Visitare oggi questo luogo è un'esperienza emozionante quanto surreale.
Fumegai era un piccolo paese montano, abbandonato negli anni 20/30 per la sua ubicazione sfavorevole. Le case sono costruite lungo una parete abbastanza scoscesa, ormai del tutto ricoperta dalla vegetazione. Chiunque può introdursi senza particolari problemi all’interno delle abitazioni. Dovevano essere delle semplici case di famiglie contadine: cucine e camere da letto soprattutto, ma anche fienili e ripostigli per gli attrezzi da lavoro. Si possono notare anche oggetti moderni assieme a quelli più antichi, come cuscini ricamati, coperte, sdraio e bottiglie d’olio. Si dice a tal proposito che il borgo fu abitato da un gruppo di figli dei fiori tra gli anni'60 e '70, prima che venisse abbandonato di nuovo (ecco perchè si parla di Fumegai come 'il borgo abbandonato due volte'). In effetti molti altri oggetti fanno pensare che il paese sia stato frequentato più recentemente, come i frigoriferi, che suggerivano l’utilizzo della corrente elettrica, e il ritrovamento delle tessere del Monopoli. In un'abitazione troverete giornali e quotidiani degli anni '80 e perfino dei vestiti.
Visitando Fumegai si ha la sensazione che il tempo si sia fermato nel momento in cui fu abbandonato, che gli abitanti se ne siano andati in tutta fretta, abbandonando tutti gli oggetti e arredi che oggi si vedono all'interno delle abitazioni. Esplorare il borgo è davvero un'esperienza memorabile!
Per raggiungere Fumegai potete parcheggiare a Rocca, seguendo le indicazioni per Val Carazzagno dopo aver attraversato il ponte. La strada passa inizialmente sopra un canyon, si passa per la località Boldi e si procede fino a un tornante dove inizia il sentiero (indicazioni) per Fumegai. Ci vogliono circa 45-50 minuti di salita.
Alle coordinate dovreste trovarvi di fronte a una porta col numero civico 332, la cache (di dimensioni micro) si trova all'interno dell'edificio, con l'hint non dovreste avere dubbi. Buona caccia e buon divertimento!

Fumegai is one of the most special and preserved ghost towns in the province of Belluno. We are in the valley of Lago del Corlo, more precisely in Val Carazzagno. Once there were many villages. When the dam was built, the whole valley was filled with water, submerging the villages and isolating some areas. The villages served as a base for the alpine pastures and for those who had the pastures above it. When the valley floor was missing these were completely isolated. Visiting today this place is an exciting and surreal experience.
Fumegai was a small mountain village abandoned in the '20s/'30s for its unfavorable location. The houses are built along a quite steep wall, now completely covered with vegetation. Anyone can enter without any particular problems inside the buildings. They should be simple household houses of peasantry: kitchens and bedrooms above all, but also barns and storage facilities for work tools. You can also notice modern objects along with older ones, such as embroidered pillows, blankets, deckchairs and oil bottles. It is said that the village was inhabited by a group of hippies between the '60s and' 70s, before being abandoned again (this is why Fumegai is referred to as 'the abandoned village twice'). In fact, many other objects suggest that the village has been visited more recently, such as fridges, suggesting the use of electricity, and the finding of the Monopoli tiles. Into another building you will find newspapers from the 1980s and even clothes.
If you visit Fumegai you have the feeling that time has stopped when it was abandoned, that the inhabitants have gone away in a hurry, abandoning all the objects and furnishings that today tou can see inside the houses. Exploring the village is really a memorable experience!
To reach Fumegai you can park in Rocca, following the directions for Val Carazzagno after crossing the bridge. The road first passes over a canyon, passes to the Boldi village and proceeds to a hairpin turn where the trail begins (directions) for Fumegai. It takes about 45-50 minutes of climb.
At the coordinates you should be next to a door with civic number 332, the cache (micro-sized) is located inside the building (if you read the hint it should be very easy).Happy hunting and happy geocaching!
