Located in the new Center Road Natural Area on Old Mission Peninsula. After recently working on putting in some new trails I came across this cache area in which the large mature trees reminded me of giant elephants roaming around the forest :) The large trunks look like an elephant's foot to me. Thanxs to willw8yss who found this cache and not only returned it to me but also gave me a new elephant to use (please do not take) I am redoing this cache for all to enjoy.
Park off of M-37(Center road) at N44 47.179 W085 34.449. The cache is a small round lock n lock container with theme related camo and room for small trade items. The cache is in plain sight but not easy to see from the trail. Winter friendly into at least 6 feet of snow. The cache is just outside the entrance where the loop starts in the south wing very near the park boundary line but still within the park. The south loop contains a delicate ecosystem, largely comprised of rare climax hemlock trees. The trails in the south loop are designed to protect their sensitive root system, so stay on the trail when roaming with the elephants in that area. No hunting allowed here so you can cache or hike without guns shots this fall and in the future. Please stay on the trails and respect the park boundaries and rules. And rule number one in work, play, or finding caches HAVE FUN!
