The cache is named in reference to the number of bobble hats that were worn during the Brown's Bay CITO on 30th April 2017. It was a cold, wet & very windy day, although the rain did stop long enough for us to clean the beach & enjoy our coffee & buns.
There is a lovely walk along the headland to a few more caches but please take note of the warning signs at the kissing-gate after the cache regarding livestock. Please obey the request to keep dogs on leads and the advice to release the dog so that it escape to safety if you are harassed by livestock - cows can be very defensive of their young and can attempt to trample the dog if they feel threatened - they will trample you too if you are holding the dog. (I have met a geocachers who almost lost her life being trampled by cows).
Dogs are not allowed on the beach in July & August but please check local signage.
