Puncak Jaya (aka Carstensz Pyramid) is on the western central highlands of Papua Province, Indonesia. It is the highest point between the Himalayas and the Andes, and the highest island peak in the world. [Wikipedia]
Located in the northern section of Avon Valley National Park. Access is via unsealed roads, mostly by 4WD, though regular 2WD cars could make it (as did I) with careful driving; but best avoided after heavy rainfall. Do keep alert during periods of extreme fire danger risk. Stay hydrated.
