Mt Kosciuszko is Australia’s highest mountain. It was named by the Polish explorer Pawel Edmund Strzelecki in 1840, in honour of Polish-Lithuanian national hero, General Tadeusz Kościuszko, because of its perceived resemblance to Kościuszko Mound in Kraków. [Wikipedia]
Located in the northern section of Avon Valley National Park. Access is via unsealed roads, mostly by 4WD, though regular 2WD cars could make it (as did I) with careful driving; but best avoided after heavy rainfall. Do keep alert during periods of extreme fire danger risk. Stay hydrated.
