The Former Cishan Watercourse was established in 1925, as one part of Cishan Aqueduct, a small-scale simple water supply system designed to cater to a population of 3,000 people. During the expansions in 1930 and 1933, the overall features and functions of Cishan Aqueduct were complete.
原旗山上水道創建於1925年，屬於計畫給水人口3000人的小規模簡易供水系統。經過1930年與1933年的兩次擴建工程，旗山上水道已經完備供應旗山市街人口的供水規模。
In 1954, an alternative water supply system was built next to the Cishan Riverbank, leaving the original system idle. In 2004, the Former Cishan Watercourse and others part of Cishan Aqueduct was officially recorded as historical buildings.
1954年，建於旗山溪畔的給水系統取代了旗山上水道。2004年，原旗山上水道被指定為歷史建築。
