Geocache Description:

On the logbook and inside the lid, look for a letter and number to plug into a formula for a puzzle cache.

Pine Warblers (Setophaga pinus) are aptly named. They are common in many eastern pine forests, and are rarely seen away from pines. Pine Warblers are yellowish birds with olive backs, whitish bellies, and two prominent white wingbars on gray wings. Adult males are the brightest; females and immatures are more subdued and can even appear gray-brown. Pine Warblers are often difficult to see, as they usually stay high up in pines. Insects make up most of their diet, but they also eat fruits and seeds. They occasionally forage on the ground or come to feeders. Males sing even, rich trills from the tops of pines. The Pine Warbler is the only warbler that eats large quantities of seeds, primarily those of pines. This seed-eating ability means Pine Warblers sometimes visit bird feeders, unlike almost all other warblers. Pine Warblers nearly always build their nests in pine trees, usually in pine or mixed pine-deciduous forest. Nests tend to be high in the tree and concealed among needles and cones.

I heard a Pine Warbler singing across the road while looking for a spot to put the cache. The cache contains a log book and swag. You will have to bring your own autographing tool to sign the log. The cache is on a seasonal road not plowed during the winter. Don't forget to get the letter and number from the log and inside of the lid for the Bald Eagle puzzle cache.
