The four caches I placed in this area are fairly straightforward and findable. Be careful where you park and watch for muggles as this small-town road is used a lot. You may want to park near "Flat at the "Flats" cache, then walk to grab them all. Head into the Nature Walk area and before you know it, you will have circled back to your car AND enjoyed a nice walk. BYOP
The "Flats" is a shallow water area in Green Bay off the shores of Menekaunee (Marinette, WI). Historically, the 'flats' were muddy and swampy. During the year of the Great Fire of 1871, the 'flats' were totally dry and the entire town of Menekaunee was burned to the ground. Presently, the water ranges from 1-6 feet deep for nearly a mile from the shore. When I moved to Marinette in 1980, the 'flats' was where my new husband taught me to windsurf. It was a perfect place for this newbie, who spent days falling off and climbing back on the board, to finally catch the wind in the sails and catch the windsurfing fever for many years. Now, much older, I walk my dog KC along W. Bay Shore and enjoy the beauty of the "Flats".
